ICANN | Top-Level Domains (gTLDs): "There are several types of TLDs within the DNS:
TLDs with two letters (such as .de, .mx, and .jp) have been established for over 250 countries and external territories and are referred to as 'country-code' TLDs or 'ccTLDs'. They are delegated to designated managers, who operate the ccTLDs according to local policies that are adapted to best meet the economic, cultural, linguistic, and legal circumstances of the country or territory involved. For more details, see the ccTLD web page on the IANA web site."

ICANN | Top-Level Domains (gTLDs): "The right-most label in a domain name is referred to as its 'top-level domain' (TLD).
The DNS forms a tree-like hierarchy. Each TLD includes many second-level domains (such as 'icann' in 'www.icann.org'); each second-level domain can include a number of third-level domains ('www' in 'www.icann.org'), and so on.
The responsibility for operating each TLD (including maintaining a registry of the second-level domains within the TLD) is delegated to a particular organization. These organizations are referred to as 'registry operators', 'sponsors', or simply 'delegees.'"

It's normally used to describe grassroots efforts to block everything from landfills and windmills to big box stores and bike lanes. NIMBYism has taken on a negative association, often implying naive or parochial resistance to projects that challenge the status quo in a community."

Reverse IP Lookup - Find Other Web Sites Hosted on a Web Server: "An effective search engine optimizer would go further than hosting inter-linking web sites on different IP addresses. They would host the web sites on completely different class C network addresses. They would make sure that all of their domains were registered with different registrars under different names. They would not use the same template on more than one web site. They would erase all traces that their sites are operated by the same individual. They would go through all of this trouble with one goal in mind - to game the search engines in order to bring in more organic traffic.
For most web sites, having a dedicated unique IP address will have little to no effect on search engine rankings. Matt Cutts, the head of Google's Webspam team, stated:
'If you are an average webmaster and just running a few sites, I wouldn't worry about them being on the same IP address and I definitely wouldn't worry about them being on the same server. That's something that everybody does.'"

5 million page views' limit to one account ... how many domains? - Google Analytics Help: "GA would never know the difference. It's better to create separate profile for each 'Site Collection' and a separate Analytics Account for each client. I believe the 5 million pageview limit is per profile, but someone mentioned it was per 'account' so I could be wrong.
For example if you had 2 clients, and 1 client had 3 domains and the other had 2 domains, you would create 2 Accounts (one for each client), and then in each clients account you would create a profile for each 'Site Collection'. A 'Site Collection' is usually the same thing as a domain, but in some cases you might point two domains at the same set of pages (domain alias)"

Chapter 4 DNS Configuration Types: "Most DNS servers are schizophrenic - they may be masters (authoritative) for some zones, slaves for others and provide caching or forwarding for all others. Many observers object to the concept of DNS types partly because of the schizophrenic behaviour of most DNS servers and partly to avoid confusion with the name.conf zone parameter 'type' which only allows master, slave, stub, forward, hint). Nevertheless, the following terms are commonly used to describe the primary function or requirement of DNS servers."

White-label product - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: "White label production is often used for mass-produced generic electronics such as DVD players and televisions. Some companies maintain a sub-brand for their goods, for example the same model of DVD player may be sold by Dixons as a Saisho and by Currys as a Matsui, which are brands exclusively used by those companies.[1]

How do I create a CNAME record for my custom domain? - Blogger Help
How do I create a CNAME record for my custom domain? - Blogger Help: "A CNAME, or Canonical Name, record is an entry within the Domain Name System (DNS) that specifies where a user can find your web pages, or any other URL. You'll use this to associate your custom domain with your blog.
After registering your domain, decide if you want to use a particular subdomain for your blog. E.g. instead of www.mydomain.com you could use something like blog.mydomain.com, if you want. Then you'll create a corresponding CNAME record for that address, associating it with ghs.google.com. Keep in mind that changes to DNS records make take up to 48 hours to take effect.
Each hosting service has slightly different ways to create CNAME records. Guidelines are provided here for some of the common services. When in doubt, check with the particular company you're using for additional help or instructions."

Rutgers bars Jews from anti-Zionist gathering
Rutgers bars Jews from anti-Zionist gathering: "However, when the sponsoring organizations of 'Never Again for Anyone' saw they were outnumbered by Jewish students and their supporters by about 4-to-1, they asked campus policy to bar students wearing kippas – and eventually limited attendance to known supporters of the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network, Americans for Muslims in Palestine and the Middle East Children's Alliance.
Never again? 'The Forgotten People: Christianity and the Holocaust.' It's a provocative, compelling, educational tool for the whole family available in the WND Superstore.
Pleas to university officials from the Jewish students and their supporters for access to the event went unheeded."

My Not-So-Official, Official Story | Lara Kulpa: "My First Experience Working Online
So I went to work for Neopets.com – it’s a cute community site, mainly geared toward kids nowadays, but started out for college kids. (In fact, I’d been working for them while I was still in college, but continued on afterward out of necessity and admiration.) I was senior community manager there, so my main job was to keep the baddies out. No pervs stalking little kids, no “adult language”, that kind of stuff. I got to do other cool stuff like design items in the game, beta testing, all that. It was great. And got me into web design. I had a blog before they ever called them blogs back then, and I loved it!
After September 11, 2001 my world as I knew it really crumbled. Tourism shot down so the zoo thing was on thin ice, and Neopets wanted some security for their company (because no one in the country knew just what was going to happen next) so they had asked me to move to California (I was in Florida at the time). I just wasn’t able to do it on the pay they offered me, so I had to decline."

The Case For Biofuel From Giant Miscanthus Grass « TechPulse 360: "Most people think of Giant Miscanthus as an ornamental grass, growing in bright green clumps that can stand 15 feet tall and displaying flat leaves that can measure 1.5 inches across.
What they don’t realize is that it requires less than half the acreage of corn and switchgrass and produces 2.5 times the ethanol. A mature field re-grows in a year, and the grass is tolerant of poor soils and salty, coastal environments.
The grass could be a boon for rural economies, argues SunBelt, bringing Georgia farmers an extra $2 billion in income. No subsidies would be needed."

SunBelt Biofuels calculates that if Georgia were to dedicate 2.4 million acres of cropland to the grass it could become energy self-sufficient. The state has a total of 10 million acres of farmland.

Why Groupon Is Poised For Collapse
Why Groupon Is Poised For Collapse: "The hidden auction
Underlying Groupon’s success is an auction. It’s not explicit, like Google’s AdWords bidding platform, but the economic effects are similar. The fact that Groupon runs daily deals creates artificial scarcity and drives up pricing to absurd levels. Even with four deals a day in a given market, you’re talking about fewer than 1,500 deals a year.
The “bid” in this auction is the total revenue that goes to Groupon. That’s a function of the value of the voucher, the negotiated revenue share and the number of deals that will be sold. The number of deals that will be sold is a function of, among other factors, how deep a discount and how commonly needed the product is. The larger the discount, the greater the volume."

The Poetry of Skydiving | skydive-egypt.com: "Scott Van Allen is one of the finalists in the mixed media category of the Rachel Carson Sense of Wonder Contest.

Why Groupon Is Poised For Collapse
Why Groupon Is Poised For Collapse: "Groupon is not an Internet marketing business so much as it is the equivalent of a loan sharking business. The $21,000 that the business in this example gets for running a Groupon is essentially a very, very expensive loan. They get the cash up front, but pay for it with deep discounts over time. (This post applies to Groupon operations in the United States and Canada; it’s different in other parts of the world.)
In many cases, running a Groupon can be a terrible financial decision for merchants. Groupon’s financials also raise questions about its ongoing viability. Buying Groupon stock could be as bad a deal for investors as running a Groupon offer is for merchants. This is my opinion, but I have some facts to back it up."
